Carol Burnett’s “Gone with the Wind” Curtain Dress Coming to the Smithsonian

The imfamous green velvet curtain dress worn by legendary commedianne, Carol Burnett, on the “Carol Burnett Show” is being donated to the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of American History.

The dress was designed by Bob Mackie, noted fashion designer of costumes worn by Cher and Liza Minnelli, among others, for the “Gone with the Wind” 1975 themed episode.

“Went with the Wind,” went on to become one of the most popular “Carol Burnett Show’s” episodes. 

National Museum of American History’s director, Brent Glass, said the addition of the dress to the museum represents the nations “rich comedic history.”
